What is Excluded
Nestled high on the Twelve Apostles side of Table Mountain, Tranquility Cracks is one of Cape Town’s best-kept secrets—a hidden network of sandstone corridors, narrow crevices, and lush forest pockets that seem worlds away from the bustling city below.
Unlike the more well-trodden paths on Table Mountain, Tranquility Cracks offers an off-the-beaten-track experience for those seeking quiet exploration, natural wonder, and a touch of mystery. The cracks are concealed just below the ridgeline and are almost invisible from the main trails. Once inside, visitors are treated to a surreal labyrinth of moss-covered rocks, yellowwood trees, and soft shafts of light filtering through ancient stone walls.
This remarkable formation is thought to have been shaped by centuries of weathering and erosion, creating a system of intersecting passageways that feels like nature’s own secret playground. The cool, shaded environment provides a peaceful retreat, even on hot summer days—perfect for rest, photography, or a meditative picnic.
Early Morning: Start between 6:30–8:00 AM for cooler temps, soft light, and a peaceful experience.
Best Months: September to May – dry weather and clearer skies enhance the views.
Avoid: Cloudy, windy, or wet days – visibility drops and rocks can become slippery.
